A car you drive to work every day for a year is a different story from one you rent for a weekend. It racks up more miles, more heat and more salt air, and the coverage you carry matters more. GU Rent-A-Car is set up for that: the maintenance, the insurance and the monthly rate all assume you'll be putting real miles on the car. Service members, DoD civilians, and the spouses and dependents who often do most of the driving are all welcome.

What the rate already carries, and what you can add
Liability, unlimited mileage and hotel pick-up
Bodily injury is covered to $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident, property damage to $50,000. There is no mileage cap, so a daily commute across the island costs you nothing extra. Pick-up from Tumon hotels is free.
CDW — Collision Damage Waiver, covering car-to-car collision up to $50,000
with a $1,000 deductible.
ZDW — Zero Deductible Waiver, which removes that $1,000 deductible.
NOC — Non Operation Charge Waiver, which exempts you from the business-loss
charge after an accident ($250 if the car can still be rented, $400 if it cannot).
Every car gets scheduled maintenance plus an inspection and cleaning before it goes out. That matters more on a long rental than a short one — you're the one who would find out if a car had been neglected.
The 30-day rate above is the one to look at if you are on PCS orders, on TDY, or waiting on a POV at the port. Keep the same car a month at a time, for as long as you need it.
Ask us early to keep it longer. We will extend it if that car is still free.
On a two- or three-year tour, and especially if your POV is not shipping, a car of your own can make more sense than renting. TAICO Guam Used Cars, part of our group, sells former TAICO rental and lease cars — looked after for their whole working life, with Japanese makes such as Toyota, Nissan and Mazda, cars under $15,000, and loans through Guam's banks. Rent for the first weeks while you shop.
Licensed drivers from 18 can rent, and there is no young driver surcharge at any age. Most counters on the island set the bar at 21 or 25 and add a daily fee below that, so this is worth checking if a junior member of your household is going to be driving.

Bring your license, a credit card and your passport or ID. Please pay with the driver's credit card. If the driver doesn't have a credit card, you can pay with a card in someone else's name, but an additional driver fee applies. Active-duty members and their dependents can drive on a valid U.S. state license with no Guam license needed. Other U.S. licenses are good for 90 days, and licenses from Japan, Korea and several other countries for 30 days — no international permit required.
