Long-term car rental and cover

Over three days, the cover on a rental car is a box you tick. Over three months it is a decision. The car is parked outside a job site instead of a hotel, it is reversed in car parks a few hundred more times, and the odds of a scrape stop being theoretical. Nothing about the daily rate tells you that. This page is about the part that does.

Over months

What changes when the rental stops being a few days long

The deductible is the number that matters

CDW caps what you owe for a car-to-car collision, but it leaves a $1,000 deductible sitting underneath it. On a three-day rental that is a risk most people accept without thinking. On a six-month rental, taken across a whole team of drivers, it is a figure worth deciding about rather than defaulting on. ZDW is what removes it.

The charge that arrives after the repair

If a car cannot be rented out while it is being fixed, that lost business is charged to the renter — $250 if the car can still go out, $400 if it cannot. NOC waives it. It is a small daily amount against a charge that turns up at the worst possible moment, and the longer the rental runs the more chances there are for it to turn up at all.

Waiver rates in detail

What the rate already carries

Liability is in every rate, not sold on top of it: $100,000 per person and $300,000 per accident for bodily injury, $50,000 for property damage. Mileage is uncapped, which on a rental measured in months is not a small thing — a daily commute the length of the island adds nothing to the bill. Hotel pick-up in Tumon is free, which mostly matters on day one.

Checked over before it is handed to you

Scheduled servicing and a full check happen before a car goes out. On a weekend rental that is a formality. On one that will run for months it is the difference between a car you can rely on for the whole term and one you cannot.

If something needs attention part-way through, tell us as soon as you notice rather than when you hand the car back.

Drivers from 18, with no surcharge

Licensed drivers from 18 can rent here, at no extra charge at any age. Most counters on the island start at 21 or 25 and add a daily fee below that. If a young member of staff is going to be one of the drivers, that difference compounds over a rental measured in months.

Additional drivers are registered at the counter for an extra charge. On a long rental it is worth doing at the start rather than on the day someone else has to take the wheel.

Rental guide

Longer than a month, or more than one car

Thirty days at a time is the published arrangement and it can run for as long as you need it. Anything that does not fit that shape — several vehicles starting together, or a term agreed up front — is worth asking about before you book rather than after.
